John has nearly 40 years experience in for-profit and not-for-profit businesses providing expertise in project and program management, process improvement, and professional development to improve operations and deliver sustainable results.
John's 30 year career in product development engineering and engineering management includes roles to the Director level at Xerox and Moore Business Forms responsible for software and hardware development and systems engineering on high volume production print products.
For the last 10 years, John focused on process improvement ultimately earning his certification as a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt from Xerox. In addition to his leadership role in the corporate Lean Six Sigma program, John led development of the first Systems Engineering Design for Lean Six Sigma (DfLSS) program for Xerox. He is also a certified training professional in change management specializing in Vital Smarts Crucial Conversations and Influencer methodologies.
In the non-profit sector, John spent a year seconded to Save the Children as "Master Black Belt in Residence" to develop an agency-wide continuous improvement program including training over 500 national and international staff as well as leading operational improvement projects.
In 2015, John joined the senior executive staff at the University of Rochester Medical Center to build the Operational Excellence department. In that role John led many successful projects and built a team to improve both clinical and non-clinical operations while increasing organizational capability across the medical center.
John earned a B.S. Computer Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology, and his MBA from the University of Rochester's Executive MBA program. He a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Blackbelt.
